New truck terminal opened in the port of Koper, Slovenia
A new truck terminal has been opened in the port of Koper, Slovenia. The new facility, co-financed by the European Union, is an important milestone in the development of the port and its logistics, said Nevenka Krzan, head of the port operator Luka Koper, at the inauguration ceremony.

He stressed that the construction of the new terminal took about a year and was completed on schedule. It has 203 parking spaces and cost €13 million, Krzan said, noting that Luka Koper is committed to becoming a leading port on the southern European transport route. In line with its 2028 development strategy, the company expects to invest €780 million in investments, which include the creation of a new passenger terminal and the expansion of the northern part of Pier 1.    One of the objectives is to increase the number of container units (TEUs) handled per year from the current 1.1 million to 1.7 million, he explained.

The Minister of Infrastructure, Alenka Bratusek, said the investment was important for the whole of Slovenia because logistics was one of the most important economic sectors.

The minister also spoke about the project to build a second track on a 27-kilometre stretch of the Koper-Divaca railway line, which has been dragging on for several years and which she said was under way, and promised that the service would be double-tracked as soon as possible.
